Making the work, makes you alive, powerful ,real, and in a sense invulnerable because you’re more present in yourself and in touch with your thoughts and emotions than any other time. It helps with perspective (no pun intended). I can only feel in control when i’m working on a one off piece or on a project, and I only REALLY feel in control when it’s turning out how I envisioned .The only way I can ensure that happening is if I work at my draftsmanship and keep forcing my visions to be clearer and putting in the time -so that when I have something to say or something I would like to portray it comes across loud and clear. I wanna be a communicator of feelings -creating visuals is just the way I decided to do it. The better I get at imagining an ideal world on paper the easier it is for me to do so in my real life.
I find that people who regularly remind you who and what they are ( ” I’m an artist” , “I’m a grown man “, ” I’m a really nice person” ) are often the same people who’s actions don’t coincide with that identity.
